University of Oklahoma Move-In 2019 — All you need to know!Sooner Parents
I’m confident that those of you reading this newsletter are firm believers that YOUR child is conducting themselves as a model citizen here at MTSU.
They have conquered the first few weeks of classes, learned their way around the Murfreesboro community, made new friends, and are excited about all the future holds. And for many of you, your belief is correct . . . so far. Some others of you have already had that inevitable moment when you shake your head and say to yourself “what on earth was my child thinking???”
The fact of the matter is that many new students will test limits and push boundaries during the first year of college. Many of us did the exact same thing when we were in college. What you may not have considered is what exactly happens to students who get caught breaking university rules?
Students who are suspected of violating university rules are referred to the Office of Student Conduct. The staff members investigate and adjudicate all university conduct matters. The purpose of the university conduct system is to educate your student, hold them accountable for their behavior, and assist them in becoming responsible community members. We understand that students make mistakes, and we want to help them correct the behavior, learn from the mistake, and make better decisions in the future.
I encourage you to take a look at our website http://www.mtsu.edu/student-conduct/ and more specifically at the FAQ designed for parents: http://www.mtsu.edu/student-conduct/parentfaqs.php. We’ve tried to answer the most common questions parents ask when their student becomes involved in the student conduct process.
If you have general questions about our office, please do not hesitate to contact us. We certainly hope we do not have to do “official” business with you or your child, but as the old saying goes... when the cat’s away, the mice will play! And YOU, dear parents, are the cats!
It’s time to celebrate with the perfect gift for your new grad!
