Week of Welcome 2016

The University of Alabama Parent & Family Programs

As your students gear up for the fall semester, University Programs is gearing up for Week of Welcome (WOW) 2016. WOW is several days of free events to welcome first-year and transfer students to campus, welcome back returning students, and celebrate the beginning of the school year. This year’s theme is The WOW Factor.

WOW brings students together from all backgrounds and creates an environment to meet new people through a variety of events in collaboration with other on-campus organizations. The events give new students the opportunity to become familiar with campus and begin their transition to life here at the Capstone.

The official dates for WOW are Saturday, August 13 – Thursday, August 25. Events include Script A, Convocation, Ripple Effect, Welcome Back Breakfast, and Get On Board Day.

Convocation, on August 16, is where students sign the Capstone Creed as part of a long line of academic excellence at The University of Alabama.

Get on Board Day is the last event of WOW. More than 500 clubs and organizations set up information tables to encourage students to get involved and see what The University of Alabama can offer them.

All incoming freshman, transfer students, and returning students are encouraged to attend WOW. For a full calendar of events, download the Bama Bound app in the Google or Apple store, and then search UA WOW to get the guide. To stay up to date with all things WOW, follow us on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook @UAWOW.

For more information about Week of Welcome, please visit our website wow.ua.edu or contact the University Programs Office at (205) 348 – 7525 or by email at [email protected].
