The Academic Success Center (ASC) is here to provide academic resources for your Bearkat student. Our goal is for your Bearkat to be academically successful. Our two most popular resources are the Writing Center and the Math Center.
At the Writing Center, your student can meet with a writing tutor to generate ideas, organize a paper, improve style, identify and correct grammatical errors, and much more. Our writing center offers help on a variety of writing assignments ranging from English composition essays to science lab reports, résumés, scholarship and job application letters. The Writing Center is in Farrington 111. Students can also meet with a tutor online.
At the Math Center, students can meet with a math tutor for math support on a walk-in basis in Farrington 104 or online via Blackboard. The Math Center provides support for math classes as well as math-dependent science courses.
The Academic Success Center also offers Supplemental Instruction for a variety of courses, particularly in the STEM fields. Your student may be able to attend peer-led study group sessions in courses like Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology.
If your Bearkat is not TSI met in Math, we offer an online Bearkat Bridge program to prepare for the TSIA or for college-level math courses. For more information, please contact Susanna Shupp at 936-294-3947.
At the beginning of the semester, the ASC will be offering Study Skills for a Strong Start to help your Bearkat build positive academic habits.
