The 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened on October 1, 2016. The process will now open in October each year. In addition to the FAFSA being available earlier, it also will use your 2015 income tax data. This means that both the 16-17 FAFSA and 17-18 FAFSA will use 2015 tax data. Going forward, the FAFSA will always be completed with "prior-prior" year tax data. We understand this may be confusing. The Department of Education has created a chart to help explain this change.
The KSU Foundation Scholarship Application is open for students to apply for scholarships for the 17-18 academic year. The deadline to complete the application is March 15th. You can find more information at: scholarships.kennesaw.edu.
As a reminder about the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship programs, all students' GPA eligibility is checked at the end of spring semester. Students' eligibility also depends on whether they have attempted 30, 60 or 90 semester hours. All students will be reviewed at the end of the spring semester.
We have already started awarding students financial aid for the 17-18 academic year and are sending emails requesting documents needed to award financial aid. Please make sure your student is checking their KSU email and that documents are returned as quickly as possible. If your student hasn’t completed the 17-18 FAFSA yet, please have them do so as soon as possible.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your student’s financial aid counselor. You can find your student’s assigned financial aid counselor at: financialaid.kennesaw.edu/contact-counselor.php.
It’s time to celebrate with the perfect gift for your new grad!
