Some notes from Housing

By MTSU Parent and Family Association

Fall 2018 – Spring 2019

If your student did not re-apply by the February 2nd re-application deadline for priority assignment, it is not too late to apply for Fall 2018/Spring 2019 on-campus housing. We are continuing to accept applications and students continue to self-assign on a first come first served basis. We encourage your student to apply here (click on how to apply) as soon as possible or your student may visit us at our office located in room 300 of the KUC. Please be reminded applications are accepted with $300 paid in advance only. Self-assignment access is offered on a first-come, first-served basis by date of completed application process.

Spring Check-Out Procedures

Instructions on checking out properly at the end of the Spring 2018 semester will be emailed to current residents at their MTSU email addresses. This information will be posted in the residence halls and in on-campus apartments. Your student will have a choice between Personalized Check-out or Express Check-out. Students who wish to do a Personalized Check-out must make an appointment with the building staff and keep that appointment at the prearranged time. Students participating in Express Check-out may go to their Area Desk anytime to check-out after they have removed all personal belongings and cleaned the room. No appointment is necessary. Students participating in the Express Check-out will have their room checked after the student leaves. Students participating in Express Check-out accept all damage charges as assessed by the staff without an opportunity of appeal. Please note that students should check out on the day of their last final examination or within 24 hours, unless that student is scheduled to graduate on Saturday, May 5th. Graduating students are to check out no later than 6 p.m. on the day of graduation.

Summer 2018

Summer 2018 Residential Life Applications are currently being accepted. Summer housing is offered by sessions, just as classes are offered May 14–August 10. Please note that the period between the end of the Spring semester and the beginning of the first Summer term is a non-contract period. Spring occupants of residence halls requesting early check-in for the first Summer term will have to pay rent for this period. Womack Lane Apartments will house all summer residents not qualifying for assignment to Scarlett Commons for the Summer 2018 sessions. For specifics regarding assignment restrictions please have your student contact the Housing office here.

If you or your student have any questions concerning applying for on-campus housing for the Summer 2018 period or the Fall 2018/Spring 2019 academic year, the proper check-out procedures for Spring 2018, or any other question concerning on-campus housing, please feel free to contact us. You may send an email to the Housing and Residential Life Office by clicking on “Contact Us” at mtsu.edu/housing. You may also call us at (615) 898-2971, Monday–Friday, from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
