Preparing for the End of Spring Semester

The University of Alabama Parent & Family Programs

Another semester is almost over and summer is just around the corner! As the end of the semester approaches, a lot of exciting events are going to take place that you and your student should prepare for in advance. Whether your student will be returning home for the summer, traveling abroad for class or service, working at an internship, or staying in Tuscaloosa, we want to make sure you do not overlook all of the important events that will be happening before summer finally arrives. Use the time now before your student gets too busy to talk about their exam schedule and their plans for the move out process.

Final Exam Tips and Information
  • Encourage your student to start preparing for final exams now to help avoid late nights of cramming during exam week
  • Remember your student can and is encouraged to talk to his/her professor outside of class to receive extra help or clarify topics when needed
  • Be sure to give your student space and time to study, distraction free. Also, don’t put extra pressure on them as exam week is already a very stressful time
  • Exam Week is May 1–5

A full list of exam times can be found by clicking here and selecting the Final Exams tab.

Move Out Information
  • Students will have a meeting with their RA in the coming weeks to discuss the move out process and details
  • Have students check their emails for additional move out information as each residence hall may have varying procedures and expectations
  • Students are expected to move out within 24 hours of their last exam
  • To learn more about the expectations for the move out process, you can click here or you can contact Housing and Residential Communities (HRC) at (888) 498-BAMA or (205)348-6676.
