"I may only be one person, but I can be one person who makes a difference!" Start today by joining Volunteerism and Service Learning Support!
Volunteerism and Service Learning Support (VSLS) provides numerous opportunities for individuals to get involved on campus and in the local community through volunteer service. Find out about the programs, services and events that are available to not only your student but for you as well!
Volunteerism and Service Learning Support is responsible for assisting our students on their path to becoming engaged citizens by creating, fostering and facilitating co-curricular service experiences. The unit serves as an information and coordination site for volunteerism and service learning opportunities. Our staff partners with the campus community as well as numerous non-profit agencies to develop and create service opportunities for KSU students that will contribute to their holistic development.
If you are on the Kennesaw Campus, please stop by the Carmichael Student Center, Suite 267 Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
For students on the Marietta campus, Please feel free to stop by and check out our new space in the Joe Mack Wilson Student Center, Suite 230c Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm!
Please consider supporting some of our upcoming volunteer opportunities:
Sunday, October 9th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the University Rooms of the Carmichael Student Center.
Tackle world hunger! Help us label envelopes, package seeds and box the envelopes so they can be shipped to villages in Malawi and Liberia, Africa.
The event this year will be held on Friday, October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd at the Fifth Third Stadium. Volunteers will be needed to work in a variety of different areas, for example: balloon wrangling, children’s area, hospitality services, and so much more!
We are switching gears this year and offering this project on the Marietta Campus. Join us on Thursday, November 10th as we construct sandwiches to help feed some of the 40,000 people that visit the Kitchen each week! By the end of the year of 2016, Clyde will have served more than 3,000,000 meals. More information will be posted in the coming weeks about the time of this project. Please check the VKSU or Student Engagement website for updates.
Last January, we partnered with The King Center and visited Hope-Hill Elementary School, which is adjacent to the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Social Change. We painted a mural on the wall and stairs, assisted with outdoor projects, and cleaned closets. Please keep checking the VKSU or Student Engagement website for future dates and times. This project will be available in January 2017.
This is one of the few opportunities that you can give back to the school and local community and volunteer alongside your student! This event is open to faculty, staff, current students, alumni, and community members. Please save the date for Saturday, April 22, 2017! More information will be provided in the coming weeks and will be highlighted in the February 2017 newsletter.
We really hope that you will encourage your students to come out and get involved. Volunteer service looks great on a job resume and grad school application. Additionally, there is no better feeling in the world than knowing that you helped someone in need!
We shall leave you with this:
