The official opening of the 2017-18 academic year will begin with the University Convocation. Convocation for fall 2017 will take place on Saturday, August 26th at 5 p.m. in the Murphy Athletic Center.
This year’s summer reading selection is Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance. The work centers on the Appalachian values of Vance’s upbringing coupled with the social problems facing his hometown.
Our keynote speaker at Convocation will be J. D. Vance who is a leader of a Silicon Valley investment firm, Marine Corps veteran, and a Graduate of The Ohio State University and Yale Law School. In addition to those accomplishments, he has also been a contributor to the National Review and The New York Times and has made guest appearances on various news outlets.
You do not need to RSVP to attend Convocation, but we do hope to see you and your family in attendance for this wonderful MTSU tradition!
