Information from the Housing Office

Middle Tennessee State

But I didn’t know I wasn’t going to come back!

To avoid paying hundreds of dollars make your decision NOW! The Housing and Residential Life Office is currently accepting housing cancellations for the Spring 2018 semester from students who are graduating from MTSU and will be taking no additional classes and from students who are not returning to school at MTSU for the Spring 2018 term.

Requests for cancellations must be:

  • Submitted in writing to the Housing Office in the Keathley University Center, Room 300;
  • Mailed to Box 6, MTSU;
  • Faxed to the Housing Office (615-898-5459); or
  • Emailed to [email protected].

Students living on-campus for the Fall 2017 semester who will continue to be taking classes for the Spring 2018 semester at MTSU have signed the agreement to live on-campus for the full academic year to include both Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters and are not eligible for cancellation. For more information contact the Housing Office.

Self-assignment begins in October. A significant number of current residents who have submitted applications for housing for the Fall 2018–Spring 2019 academic year are in the process of participating in self-assignment. If your student wants to increase the probability of getting the building, room, or roommate of their choice and wants to be among the first to self-assign for the Fall 2018–Spring 2019 academic year, your student should apply now!

Students may apply electronically here. Students may submit their Fall 2018–Spring 2019 application personally by visiting our office located in room 300 of the KUC. The deadline for priority assignment for current residents is February 2nd. A current resident making application prior to February 2nd will have the opportunity to self-assign prior to any new student, but NOW is the time to apply to be among the first of current residents to self-assign! Self-assignment will continue on a first-come, first-served basis until June 29th.

If you or your student have questions concerning on-campus housing, you may contact us at or call (615) 898-2971, Monday—Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We look forward to hearing from you.
