As we start off a new semester at the Capstone the Office of Parent and Family Programs wants to share a few financial deadlines with you in preparation for your student’s next year. The priority deadline to apply for Federal Financial Aid is March 1, 2017. You and your student can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at this link. Keep in mind that you must have submitted your 2015 tax return prior to completing the form. For more information on the types and availability of different forms of financial aid please visit the Department of Education’s Federal Financial Aid website or contact the Financial Aid Office at 205-348-6756 or toll-free at 1-855-4MYBAMA

The 2017–2018 scholarship application for current students is also now available. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is March 1, 2017. The application should be completed and submitted online through your student’s myBama account. Once they have logged in, they will click on the Admissions/Scholarships tab then the Currently Enrolled Students Scholarship link inside the Scholarships box. Once the scholarship application is submitted it will be sent to the Student Services department of your student’s College or Division as well as the National Alumni Association for review.

My child is in his first year in the engineering field. He is thinking about changing to math and physics because he doesn't believe he wants to finish in engineering. He really doesn't know what he wants or needs to do. Who should he talk to that he could tell them what he enjoys, what subjects interest him, and he does well to get a better idea of what is available to him? Thanks so much for your assistance.
