Bearcat Academy is a partnership between UC and Cincinnati Public Schools to support college awareness, readiness and preparation. The goal is to prepare high school students from underrepresented communities for rigorous college experiences by providing multiple years of mentoring activities that focus on motivation, academic planning, scholarly and social experiences as well as financial awareness.
Bearcat Academy is looking for undergraduates to mentor 9th and 10th grade students from CPS high schools (Aiken, Hughes, and Taft). This is structured as a class period one day a week on either Tuesday or Thursday from 11am-12:30pm for the school year. Mentors support meaningful experiences that promote self-confidence and college readiness. Students share their experiences with research, college applications, and college life. Bearcats can earn up to 10 hours this semester. Interested students may contact [email protected] and share their preferred mentor time: Tuesdays from 11am-11:40am or Thursdays from 11:30am-12:30pm.
