A Word From Financial Aid

By MTSU Parent and Family Association

It’s time to file for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)! The 2019–2020 FAFSA is now available for students/parents to complete online.

The FAFSA is used to determine the student’s financial aid eligibility for Fall 2019 through Summer 2020 for various federal, state, and institutional programs.

We recommend that students with financial need file the FAFSA as early as possible, due to the limited funding availability in some aid programs.

If this is the first time you will be completing a FAFSA, you should apply for a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID at studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid. The FSA ID is used to log in to certain federal websites to access financial aid information and to electronically sign federal student aid documents such as the FAFSA. If you already have a FSA ID, there is no need to apply for a new one. If your name has changed, you will need to edit your FSA ID information.

The 2019–2020 MTSU FAFSA filing priority date is January 16, 2019 to be considered for maximum federal and state financial aid assistance. Don’t delay! We encourage you to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.

To file the 2019–2020 FAFSA, go to fafsa.gov. MTSU’s federal school code is 003510.
