OU Panhellenic Sorority RecruitmentSooner Parents
I can’t believe how quickly this year has passed — and I know each of you probably feels the same way. When we send our students off to college, we know how fast time will fly. It’s still surprising just how quickly an academic year can go!
As the parent of both an undergraduate and a graduate student, I know how much your students have to do to wrap up the semester on a strong academic footing. Everyone is also looking ahead to summer, with plans for summer classes, internships, or even job searches. Be sure to take the time to encourage your student to maintain healthy practices during the often stressful end of the year. It can go a long way toward their success.
For those of you that will have a student returning home for an extended period of time this summer, be sure to talk with them about your expectations. From curfews to helping around the house, it’s better to lay ground rules at the beginning for a fun, stress-free summer with your student.
Congratulations to those of you who will wrap up your time as a Bama parent this May and August with graduation celebrations. Commencement is always a special time, and I look forward to celebrating with our graduates in just a few days. If you are looking for a unique graduation gift, a brick on the Crimson Promenade, located near the Ferguson Student Center, always makes a wonderful and lasting gift for your graduate.
For those of you who will be sending a student back to campus this fall, it’s a great time to make sure your student has been advised and registered for classes. Registration for the summer and fall semesters began on March 27, but there is still time to make sure your student’s plans are in order.
As you look ahead, the UA academic calendar is also published online and can be a great planning tool for both students and their families. Currently, you can view the schedule through Spring 2018.
Congratulations on a wonderful year at the Capstone. I can’t wait to see all that the 2017-2018 academic year has in store for The University of Alabama family.
