SCSU invites you to join other Southern Connecticut State University parents and families for a special time on campus during one of New Haven’s most beautiful seasons. Once again, Owl Family Day will happen during Homecoming which adds to the excitement and fun.
2018 Owl Family Day provides an opportunity for you to visit your student’s campus home, meet other SCSU alumni and families, talk with university faculty and staff, explore the campus, and cheer the SCSU Football Owls to a victory over the American International (AIC) Yellow Jackets, and the SCSU Owls women’s field hockey team over Merrimack College!
In addition, there will be a parade, tailgate party, vendors, a 5k Race, a chance to win $12,000 and much more! ALL PARENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS ARE WELCOME!

We will kick off our 125th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend in style on Friday night October 19th with great food, beer and wine, fantastic music and dancing. In addition to reunion celebrations, President Joe Bertolino will honor the 50th Reunion Class of 1968 and present the Alumni Association’s 2018 Distinguished Alumna Award to Carolyn Dorsey Vanacore ’52, ‘MS ’69, SY ’73.

Friday, October 19
5 p.m. Sibling Night at Residence Halls
Siblings of resident students who are ages 5–15 are welcome to sleep over in their big brother/big sister’s residence hall room. For safety reasons, each resident student is limited to hosting three siblings/family members in their rooms. Visiting siblings will be given Sibling Night badges which will allow them access to the residence hall of their host and allow them to participate in Friday’s activities and dinner. 8:30 a.m. Registration opens, Registration Tent/Farnham Programming Space
8:30 a.m. Conn Hall opens for brunch, $8.00 per person
9:30 a.m. Bob Corda 5K Road Race & Kids 1K Fun Run, Adanti Student Center (start)
Bob Corda was a member of the SCSU community for over 30 years, working first in Audio/Visual Television and then as the Director of the Language Laboratory. Bob was an avid runner and faithful participant of the annual SCSU homecoming road race. After Bob had passed, the annual race was named after him, and the Bob Corda Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by his friend, Brad Crerar. The USATF-certified race course will be throughout Southern Connecticut State University’s campus. SCSU Students/Faculty/Staff/Alumni entry fees are as follows: $20 (10/1-10/14), $25 (10/15-10/18), $35 (10/21, Race Day); $8 Kids 1K. Rates apply with SCSU ID upon registration. 10 a.m. Owl Family Day Road to 12K
A chance to win tuition ($12,000/12K) for a year! Participants must take selfies with six university landmarks to be entered into a chance to kick a football into the bed of a truck. If the football stays in the bed of the truck, the participant wins the $11,000 prize. Participants can get full details of how to participate at the Owl Family Day Registration Tent 9–11 a.m. and at the Tailgate in Lot 9 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
