Announcing the KSU Mediation Clinic

by the School of Conflict Management, Peacebuilding, and Development

KSU’s Mediation Clinic provides free mediation services to KSU students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Mediation is a voluntary dispute resolution process that uses a neutral third-party known as a mediator. The mediator meets with the disputing parties and facilitates a discussion and negotiation between them. The goal is for the parties to resolve the dispute, particularly before the situation escalates or has lasting consequences.

The mediation clinic handles all types of disputes. For students, we often hear issues surrounding roommates, work, teachers, classmates, and suspected plagiarism. Upon contacting the mediation clinic we seek to schedule the mediation between parties within 48 hours in an effort to resolve the dispute in a timely manner.

  • Great article. It reminded me to ask my high school senior about which of her preferred colleges have reached out about a regional event. We attended an event like this with our older daughter who was attending school far from home and it was very valuable.
